To keep the body in good health is a duty, otherwise we shall not be able to keep our minds strong and clear.

OUR MISSION

A professional company offering a fresh + holistic approach to personalized nutrition and overall wellness. We are truly caring business enthusiastically committed to empowering and guiding forward thinking individuals toward obtaining a life balance of health and happiness.

Welcome to Healthy to the Core NYC. We are a nutrition, yoga and corporate wellness consultancy based in New York City. We thrive on seeing people transform their health through eating the right foods for their bodies. Healthy to the core was created as a testimonial to food.  It is the story of our deepest gratitude to the plants and animals nourish our bodies and soul and taught us the difference between eating to live and living to eat.  This is an exploration into the way your life can change for the better from the nourishment you will receive once you realize the difference between calories and food and my deep belief that I can spread this message around the world.

And so we created healthy to the core.  The content of this site is intended to offer a bridge between western nutrition, holistic and alternative health with a focus on cooking and nourishing your body and your family.

About uS

Samantha Rigoli MPH, RD, CDN, RYT is a Registered Dietitian, Functional Nutrition Consultant and Yoga Instructor with a private practice in New York City. She holds a Master’s in Public Health and is the founder of Healthy to the Core NYC where she provides one-on-one counseling for adults and children, conducts nutrition-focused seminars, wellness talks, cooking demonstrations for privately owned businesses and corporate accounts.

I am a Functional Nutritionist, Registered Dietitian and work with women to get to the root cause of their conditions. Together we dive deep into understanding their gut ailments, hormone imbalances and work on weight loss if necessary. My goal is to help people to discover sustainable and balanced health through individual counseling that is specific to each person.

My food philosophy is based on balance, sustainability, natural and unprocessed foods, nourishing our bodies. My knowledge and education is somewhere between science, western nutrition and traditional, holistic healing methods. My educational background provides me with experience in both and I hope to share that with you.

Food has historically been at the root of family, tradition and comfort all over the world. Today, however, eating right is often a source of stress for many Americans. Whether you are an individual with Type II diabetes, are overweight, or a business that is interested in improving the health of your employees, I can help.

My nutrition career path began at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition where I earned my credentials as a Holistic Health Counselor. Upon completion of this course, I decided to take my education further and in 2009 I received from Hunter College both a Masters in Public Health (MPH) and became a Registered Dietitian (RD).

My approach to healthy food is hands on education; I not only share the importance of vitamins and minerals and an overall healthy diet with clients of all ages, but also teach individuals how-to farm organically, shop responsibly, and how-to use the food in a recipe.

April Evans began a consistent yoga practice for the physical improvements she saw in her balance, strength, and flexibility.  It wasn’t long before yoga changed her mind, behavior, and relationships in the same ways.  She is passionate about self-study and has a knack for weaving philosophy and humor into the physical practice. April works with adults of every age and ability, and specializes in crafting unique classes to suit her clients’ needs.

She is a proud co-director of New York Yoga’s 200 Hour Teacher Training Program. April is registered with Yoga Alliance at the E-RYT 200 and RYT-500 hour level, and has over 600 hours of training through New York Yoga, Sonic Yoga, ISHTA Yoga, MetaAnatomy, AntiGravity Fitness, and with master yoga and meditation teachers Shiva Rea and Sally Kempton.  In addition to teaching yoga full time, April sings in the Brooklyn-based rock band After School Special.

WHAT WE DO

COMMUNITY NUTRITION

We love working with various communities in and around NYC. From Urban Pathways to NYC Department of Health's Healthy Bodega Initiative, we work with low-income individuals to increase accessibility and awareness of fruits. vegetables and healthy eating. We have even worked with City Harvest’s Operation Frontline classes as Nutrition Advisors helping teen mothers living in a Brooklyn halfway house on ways to feed their families on a limited budget.

ORGANIC FARMING

Learning to farm and getting your hands in the dirt transforms the way you think and feel about food. In 2008, I worked on Amawalk Farm, an organic farm in Katonah, NY, assisting owners Larry and Marian Cross with planting, harvesting and distributing fruits and vegetables. It is here I learned the process of properly caring for and growing foods. I now have a much deeper understanding of how and what we eat.

Yoga instruction

Not only is food important in my life, but so is exercise. In 1996 I took an introductory yoga course and this soon evolved into a passion, and later part of my career.  I am trained as an instructor of ISHTA yoga, Shiva Rea and Next Generation Yoga for Kids, and have been teaching people of all ages since 2003.

PRIVATE practice

Healthy to the core has a private practice in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and work as a consultant for Con Edison and worksite wellness programs in various corporate offices in New York City. We provide individual nutrition counseling, conduct “Lunch and Learn” talks, lead a weight loss group and provide cooking demonstrations.  My work continues to inspire me as I have witnessed tremendous health improvements for the many individuals and groups I have worked with.
