Eggs

Eggs: are they good or bad? This question comes up often with clients and I know that we are all a little bit confused about it. Here are some of the facts that will help clear up the mystery. It is well known that high levels of cholesterol in the bloodstream contributes to the buildup of plaque in the arteries, which is associated with a higher risk of a heart attack or stroke. For decades, many blamed egg yolks, which are high in dietary cholesterol, for this. Further research revealed that it is actually the foods that are high in saturated fats, not dietary cholesterol, that raise your LDL levels or unhealthy levels of cholesterol. ⁣

So the good news for today is that you can still enjoy your egg on top of that avocado toast in the morning (unless of course, you have a medical condition and need to avoid it). Remember to keep high levels of fiber in your diet to help your body rid itself of artery clogging cholesterol and avoid processed meats (i.e. bacon, sausage, or ham) with your eggs. Finally, be sure to consume high levels of healthy fats (think avocados, oil oil and nuts) to maintain the healthy balance.⁣
