Stress and Sleep

Prebiotics.png

Prebiotics, different from probiotics, are the fuel for the healthy bacteria (probiotics) to grow and thrive. These foods are rich, fibrous plants that break down in the intestines and create a nice breeding ground for the good bacteria to grow and work their magic. Part of this work is to help produce serotonin, a hormone that regulates sleep-wake cycles. ⁣

Prebiotic foods include; lentils, cabbage, onions, quinoa, artichokes, garlic, bananas, leeks, dandelion greens, apples, and barley. Eat these regularly and you will (hopefully) experience more time in restorative and REM sleep cycles, which is essential for stress relief, according to a variety of studies.⁣

DM me for more info on prebiotics, their health benefits, recipes and how to add them into your day.⁣
